I had a shoot on Saturday, and despite feeling completely out of it; mostly due to Friday nights shenanigans; I made it out with just some coffee in my stomach to meet up with Viresh and one of his new models Alison. I decided that we should just hit up Sparks street and shoot some shots looking down towards the city, and Viresh spotted this bench and thought it’d make a nice 2 page spread, I thought vertical with empty space was radder. Gabrielle in the pouring rain

I met up with Gabrielle on Saturday to shoot some photos in the rain. I was expecting a little bit of rain, or some off and on stuff, but shit, it rained so hard I almost cried when I put my flashes back in the car. Somehow they all survived, camera too. Here’s one from that day, during the downpour.

It’s fun going through folders long forgotten on your computer, especially when you’ve taken as many photos as I have in the past 10 years. I found this scan in one of those folders; it’s a photo of a street in New York city, shot with my holga, taken sometime in 2005. Its pretty strange to think about how many photos I’ve taken, and that for the most part, I will never lay eyes on 99% of them ever again. Maybe one day when I’m old I’ll sit down and go through them all.

This was just a random shot from June of 2005 that I took while we were walking around Quebec city. The 4 guys on the right make up Outnumbered, while the guy on the left is Dan aka the 5th member and roadie extraordinaire.

Honest Eds

Honest Eds is my favourite store in Toronto, ok well maybe not my favourite, but I always love seeing it. Nick and Michelle told me that at Christmas and Thanksgiving, they sell turkeys for $1 so that people without as much financial means can have a turkey dinner too.

Quebec City – Alley

Another photo from June of 2005 when I was in Quebec city with Outnumbered, not too sure where we were going, but I took a photo of this on the way. I’ve always liked buildings that form a tunnel for a road, I’m not too sure why, they just always fascinate me. I can’t quite remember if it’s the other side of what you see here, or what was directly behind/above me, but there was somewhere that had apartments over this road.

This stop sign should have been the first indication that walking from Michelle’s to Sunny’s through Highpark was not a good idea, it was warm enough out. Apparently High Park is a little bigger than your average park, and walking from one corner to the complete opposite is not a good idea. Oh well, I got to see some goats, llamas and peacocks.

Church

This is a church around the corner from my old apartment in Montreal. It’s on the corner of Rachel and St Urbain, and for some reason it’s always happy looking and decorated. Never been inside, but walked past it many times.

Long Exposure

I guess I attempted a long exposure with the holga, not exactly the best candidate for such a photo, but I think I did a pretty good job of holding the camera steady on the window sill while holding the shutter open. This was our view from our apartment on St Laurent, if Nat and I were religious, we could have prayed to jesus every day.

Halifax
