Had a shoot at the studio on Friday night with Angela from Cover Models, it was lots of fun, and we came away with some pretty good photos. Definitely beats shooting outside in the weather we’ve had lately. So far I’ve got the studio booked for the next 2 Thursdays in a row, and I hope to keep doing that time permitting.

Another one from the shoot 2 weeks ago, its taking me a while to get to photos, web contracts, and school. I loaded my holga up with some 35mm velvia 50, i hope it’s sunny this week, I need to try out the panorama adapter I bought for it.

I got a membership at the RA centre photo club so that I could use their studio this winter, it’s pretty sweet, especially for the price, last Friday I had my first shoot with two models, they turned out alright, could have been much better, but I’m still learning. This is a photo of my friend Kat, who was nice enough to come out for my first shoot.

I haven’t been updating the blog lately, not for lack of photos, just for lack of time, and most of the photos I’ve shot recently I’ve sent in to some mags, however they’ll all probably be up here soon since 99% of the time the photos don’t get run.

In other news, I bought a Bronica SQ-A off Keh with an 80mm 2.8 and a 150mm 3.5, I am so stoked, I can’t wait to be shooting medium format (and film!) again (that isn’t holga). It should be arriving in the mail soon, this was yet another camera switch for me, however I am keeping the nikon digital. This year was kind of wild:

November 2005 – bronica sq-a & canon eos 1v-hs
January 2006 – sold the canon eos 1v-hs, picked up a bronica 35mm sq fisheye
May 2006 – sold the bronica set up and vivitar flashes, purchased a canon 20d with some lenses and some sunpak flashes
Sept 2006 – sold the canon 20d with lenses, bought a nikon d2h with 2 lenses
Nov 2006 – kept the d2h and lenses, bought a bronica sq-a with 2 lenses

I need help..

Carolina

Another one from the shoot I did with Carolina over the weekend at Nats appartment. I’m quite pleased with the way they all turned out, and I’m extra stoked on the great painting job I did on Nats living room.

It’s so strange taking photos of people that aren’t skateboarding or doing an action without you directing it. This is the second time in as many weeks (see: years) that I’ve shot photos of people. The two toughest obstacles that arise are lighting in a small room indoors and my quiet non-vocal demeanor. I should probably shoot in bigger rooms and drink during shoots, it might solve the problem. That being said I’m quite happy with the shoot I did today with Carolina.

Another one of Alli, cropped fish to 6×6 format, just goofing around during our shoot. I’m not quite sure why I like this one, I just do.

Alli – Tilt shift lens

October 27th, 2006 No comments

I had a photoshoot tonight with Alli and Nat, the photos turned out great, but I decided to post this one, it was my first time shooting with my homemade tilt shift lens. I only shot 4 or 5 with it, it was basically impossible to focus at f4.5 in the room we were in since there wasn’t enough light, basically the smallest movement of the lens would change the dof. Two of them actually turned out pretty sharp, however this slightly out of focus one was my favourite. I’m going to have to try this lens during the day when I can see through it properly.

Nat

Nat and I had a little modeling session with my new camera in our apartment. Nat has watched every episode of americas next top model, so it wasn’t hard to convince her to pose for me. I think we’re going to try it again, my hair light gave uneven shadows on her shirt.
