So I’ve been holding on to this one for the past 8 months or so, SBC was planning on using it for their upcoming grind issue, but then decided last minute not to run it.. the other mags weren’t stoked on it either. It’s too bad, but pretty common for my photos haha, I was just hella hyped on it, I mean the shit has Skateboard with an arrow pointing at Aaron, c’mon what more could you ask for haha. Anyways this is one of my favourites from last year:

Aaron is back.. first time out this year and we got 3 photos, I guess he really was stoked all winter to get shooting again. We hit up a few spots, and ended it with this hippie jump. To be honest I can’t believe I let them convince me to shoot this, but I’m actually pretty stoked on the photo minus the lens flare.. I might be just a little bit rusty over the winter.

Nope, skateboards can’t swim. Aaron gave this a go a few times, but was unsuccessful, and even more unsuccessful once he kicked his board out and it went in the river.. straight to the bottom. Oh well, maybe this year? Maybe he can actually get on it this time too?

I went to OnDeck yesterday to hang out with Tomas and Aaron and take some photos for fun, this winter in Ottawa has been exceptionally snowy and it looks like we might not get out in the streets to skate till April at the earliest. Here’s a photo of Tomas doing a nosebone on the extension part of the mini ramp, gotta love my super sloppy lighting.

The winter is going by pretty fast and I’ve only spent 2 days out riding so far, hopefully I’ll get more in. I went up to Tremblant yesterday with Howie and Dunn, and got some good riding in (the bar stool also saw a lot of action… funny how that works). I also spent the last two weekends shooting ice sculptures and people carving said ice sculptures for the NCC here in Ottawa, at Winterlude. It was definitely a different type of photography for me, very out of my norm of shooting 10-15 photos and calling it a day. Here’s a photo that I could never get to look right in photoshop, something bout the colours are off.. maybe I should just convert it to black and white.

A pretty infamous set of stairs in Ottawa, I first skated here about 12 years ago, not the steps, but the ledges right behind it. It was great before everything was capped (except the $100 tickets for skating) you could skate the same ledge for 4 or 5 tricks in a row. I don’t even remember when this photo is from other than this passed summer, it’s of Keith doing a backside heelflip down the set, I can’t even remember if he landed it, I’m pretty sure he did. The digital version is even worse than the film.. ugh

I shot this photo back in the fall sometime with Keith, a few of the guys were skating it, Seb fs-flipped it (obviously) and Keith did his go to trick of pop shuv. We got the boot pretty quick, for some reason I was singled out by security. So I’m at my car, already removed the CF-card and replaced it with another one just incase, and the security guy comes up to me, and starts asking me stuff, for ID etc. I tell him I don’t have any, I didn’t know what we were doing was illegal, I’m from out of town blah blah blah. About halfway through talking out of my ass, I notice he’s not security, he’s RCMP.. ruh oh? So I quickly back track, after he tells me I can’t be driving a car without a license, etc etc. Long story short, it sucks getting booted off of private property for trespassing, when not more than 10 feet from us, people were playing soccer on the same property. Reminds me of those Nike Commercials from back in the day when Nike SB was started.

I’m sorry blog, I’ve been neglecting you.. actually I haven’t picked up my camera in about 2 months. It’s pretty strange but I go through times like that where I’m just lacking inspiration.. or something to shoot. Either way things are turning around, I’ve got a shoot next week with Cover Models Management, and then a contract for 2 weekends to shoot Ice Carvers at Winterlude for the NCC in Ottawa, should be fun. In the mean time, here’s a photo from sometime in the summer of Aaron doing a back tailslide bigspin out. Maybe it was shuv out.. I can’t remember.

Happy new year to the people still reading my blog from time to time. A lot of stuff has happened in the past couple of weeks in my life, it seems this time of year I always make life altering decisions. I quit my job at iStudio and moved to Got Corporation to work on CampaignerPro as a .Net Developer; which I’m very excited about. The new office is out in Kanata, I started on Monday of this week and the drive isn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be; about 25-30 mins (20 if I bob and weave through traffic).
On the 27th of December I signed a contract to purchase a new home, I bought a 2 story condo in south Ottawa that I’ll be moving in to sometime in September ’08. I’ve also been neglecting my camera, my blog and the rest of my life, it seems I’ve somehow managed to get the flu, get rid of it, then find it again, and have been sick for the better part of the past month.
Here’s a photo of Aaron doing a front board on a rail over on Prince of Whales, we shot this in November or October before it got cold out.

What better way to end the year with another photo from the archives, I shot this back in the middle of August, after going on a 2 month hiatus from shooting photos. We actually got a lot of shots done that day/night. We hit up this spot and a few others that night, it was my first time taking any photos of Seb, he’s pretty much got any kickflip trick dialed so tight. This one is of him doing a 3 flip off the ledge and over the pylons and stuff.
