I shot this photo at the beginning of November, we actually got 2 photos done in about 30 mins, in the dark alone, as per usual. I was really stoked on this photo, the tree in the background is actually about 150 feet back, so I used a long lens to bring it closer to Aaron, and lit it up with a flash in the field. Used 3 other flashes to light aaron.
Shot this one back in the spring of 2008, it’s a mini loading dock at a closed value village over in Gloucester, I was always a fan of this photo, and as per usual, the subject is Aaron.
Hands down one of my favourite photos from the summer. I shot this one at the Gloucester skate park where Chris and I used to skate almost everyday, we used to just ollie over the barriers, we never actually skated them like this. Now the ground there sucks, and its hard to remember how we even had that much fun skating that park. This shot was actually scary, Aaron kept coming really close to smashing me with his board, I was lying down camera in hand. Shot with 4 flashes, 3 of them all together just on the other side of the barrier, and one right behind me, all at full power, and zoomed in.
I think for anyone that knows Aaron the real title of this blog post should be Aaron can die now, he’s in Miami or Tampa with Tomas and Charlie this week and next. I don’t know what he’s going to do when he sees this, probably cry, I don’t even want to know the motivation he’s going to have when he gets back.
Anyways I shot this FS Flip of Aaron on the first or second day shooting this spring, it was the day Sarah Dea, James and that other dude came out actually (if you scroll a few back you can see a loose fish photo of them all set up). Anyways fs flip over the chain, I was hyped on this from Day 1.
I also got a few more photos, in the magazine, specifically this big one of my good friend Tomas on the mini at OnDeck and a few photos of the shop, our trip to miami and Trev. ( bottom left photo 2nd from the left is Chris, 3rd from the left is me.. who knew!)
I shot this photo of Tomas a few months ago when we first found this spot driving by off Richmond, since then some pretty gnar tricks have gone down on it. This year Toms been stoked on bs tailslides, and so am I, actually they’ve always been one of my favourite tricks, too bad I never learned how to do them.
Here’s a photo I shot at the beginning of the summer with Aaron, I shot it with the intention of cropping it, the original has 2 flashes in it or something, smack dab on the left side. This is at Landsdown where I grew up skateboarding behind him on the ledges at the cattle castle, and at the skate park in the Curl-o-Dome (it’s also where I lost my real front teeth). These days you get kicked out even if you’re just skating the parking lot. Times have changed.
From another session at McNabb Terry Worona doing a back tail on the up box, he threw a bench under it to make it look steeper, didn’t really work but it was. My photographic skills are lacking. Well this new spot is a definite bust, I’m talking 5 tries until you have a big scary white trash dude yelling at your from a balcony about how he’s going to break you in two if you try one more time type of bust. We rolled up, such a nice and un-tapped spot, Aaron had been there once before, got about 2 tries before getting kicked out. The worst part is it’s pretty complicated to get all the way there, and there’s no real easy escape route, especially if you have flashes set up. We only got a few tries for this, and Aaron didn’t really pop a nice one / my timing kind of sucked. Anyways this place would rule if you could actually skate it, I won’t be going back.
I’ve been getting out a couple times a week since the sun showed up a few weeks ago to shoot photos with Aaron and Neil, and whoever else comes out. I definitely missed it all winter that’s for sure, I’m building up my bank of photos on my computer again and am already getting behind with them. I also played my first rounds of golf last weekend with the nice hot weather, I just hope it keeps it up. Here’s a photo of Aaron doing a feeble at dows lake.
I got a few photos and a short article written by Keith in Confused Media skateboard magazine from Vancouver. I was supposed to send in photos forever to them but I always put it off, forgot about it, so on and so on, so I guess they just got fed up and grabbed the photos off my blog and ran with them. I’m pretty impressed they printed as well as they did. Anyways here’s some old ones of Aaron, Keith and Neil.
