Aaron – BS flip in Miami

This spot is super hard to skate, basically no run up and the only run up you do have is at a bad angle. Neil was going to 3 flip into the bank but he’s a big pussy, so Aaron did this trick instead. This was beside the pier that we spent the day on, 2 sketchy dudes on skateboards showed up and weirded me out, they told us we shouldn’t skate their after dark anymore because of gangs or something. They ended up being sketchy nice guys; even climbing some palm trees and hooking us up with fresh coconuts. Basically anywhere you go in Miami there’s some guy willing to climb a tree to get you a coconut, either so he can tell you his life story, bum a smoke or ask for a dollar.

Wildlife.. are you kidding me?

Hanging out on the pier in Miami skating all day was probably one of the best and most fun days I had on the trip, if not in the past year or two, I was also practicing my skills for National Geographic, I think with these random bird photos they’ll be calling me any day now. I decided to post 2, because there’s no way I’m making 2 seperate posts with photos of birds.

Neil – 5-0 Pivot to Fakie

Neil lands tricks? I’m just kidding, this was from Miami back in May, we headed out on a mission that night driving all over the place, and eventually ended up here, for some reason this place sketched me out more than anywhere else we went. Which is pretty weird considering it was a decent neighbourhood, not that late at night, and my first day in Miami was spent at a place called Bullet Ledge, so you’d think I could handle pretty much anything. Anyways we got in and out of this place fast, and Neil landed this buttery 5-0 pivot to fakie and off the drop.

Tomas – Polejam in Miami

This was in my top 3 favourite photos from my trip to Miami last May, I sent it along with others to all the Canadian magazines I could, thinking that maybe they’d run it.. no such luck. This spot has never been skated, for pretty good reason, it’s a vertical pole, into a wall. How Tomas looked at that and figured he could do it is beyond me.. how he actually did it, I still don’t understand.. and at 4 in the morning to boot.

Aaron – bump to front board

This spot in Miami was cool, it’s down near South Beach where the biggest party was happening that weekend. All these hooched up ladies kept hollering at me to take their photos as they were walking by looking at me while I was shooting photos of Tomas long lens from the sidewalk. Anyways Tomas never landed his trick, but Aaron stomped this bump to front board. You’ll notice a fence in the photo, when we showed up a new fence had been put in, so we carefully removed it and put it back afterwards. I’ve always liked this photo, I just sort of forgot about posting it.. stay tuned this week and next I’ll be posting a lot of photos from Miami that I thought might have got a chance in the magazines, but never made it.

Aaron Front Noseslide in Miami

Nothing like bringing film in (finally) that you shot months ago, I shot mostly digital while I was down in Miami, but did break out the Bronica (SQ-A) a couple of times for a few photos. I prefer this one over the digital one I shot, the slide looks super clean (my scanning skills are lacking). So here’s Aaron doing a front nose down the blue hubbas at NMB.

Aaron wasn’t the only one skating in Miami, but it sure seems that way, I’ve got about 5x as many photos of him, than anyone else from down there. This spot was a bit of a bust, getting tossed out of there in the first 5 mins, so we went back cause i fucked up the photo the first time, didn’t do much better the second time, timing it late, and working an angle to not get the filmer in it. This heelflip is way harder looking than it looks. Aaron Gap to Tail in Miami

Another shot from Miami, this was one of my favourite places to shoot, mostly because we got to go swimming right before, and right after (or could it be all the scantily clad women walking by). This is in south Beach and the beach is directly behind those palm trees. Aaron actually threw this one down in like 10 tries.. what am I saying “actually” for. Aaron OBVIOUSLY threw this one down in less than 10 tries cause he brings the hammer with him everywhere we go.

Charlie – wallie frontboard 180 revert out in Miami

We skated this ditch just outside Miami while we were down there, it was a sweet afternoon of cruising the ditch, getting wicked sunburns, and shooting into the sun.

Don’t be fooled this trick is damn hard, there’s rebar sticking out of the top of that ledge as well, but Charlie was laying them down with smooth style.

Here’s another photo from Miami, Aaron doing a front nose down the famous NMB hubbas. This spot was fun, we spent about 4 or 5 hours there, there’s a mini set on the other side (4 stairs) and smooth cement everywhere.. much like every spot we hit in Miami. I want to go back to Miami tomorrow.
