This is a photo of Erik from Cover Models that I shot about a month and a half ago, I’ve just finally gotten around to going through all the photos, it’s amazing how quickly I can get overwhelmed with photos to go through and edit, I think I’ve got 30 or 40 photos left to edit. I started watching the Sopranos today, season 1, disc 1 & 2.. not bad stuff.

I had a shoot on Saturday, and despite feeling completely out of it; mostly due to Friday nights shenanigans; I made it out with just some coffee in my stomach to meet up with Viresh and one of his new models Alison. I decided that we should just hit up Sparks street and shoot some shots looking down towards the city, and Viresh spotted this bench and thought it’d make a nice 2 page spread, I thought vertical with empty space was radder. Alison from Cover Models Management.
And Happy Birthday to my MOM

Haven’t had a photo of Aaron for a while on the blog, I’ve been slacking. I’ve also forgotten about probably 20-30 photos that I’ve taken this summer that just never ended up anywhere, so I’m working my way through those as well. Tomas found this spot a while back, it’s pretty cool, bank to barrier.

I met up with Gabrielle on Saturday to shoot some photos in the rain. I was expecting a little bit of rain, or some off and on stuff, but shit, it rained so hard I almost cried when I put my flashes back in the car. Somehow they all survived, camera too. Here’s one from that day, during the downpour.

What would a week on my blog be like without a photo of Aaron? And what am I going to do all winter when the streets are full of snow and we’ve already been kicked out of every indoor spot in the city? We shot this tonight, this is the first time I’ve seen Aaron do a polejam, pretty impressed.. I would have done it in 3 tries but I wasn’t feeling it today.. I also updated my blog template to make things look a little better. Basically borrowed Erik Seo’s Blog template that he borrowed from somewhere else.

This is a photo from a shoot i did sometime in the winter or early spring with Madelaine from Angies Models. Make up was done by Erin Heather. I don’t think I ever processed any of the photos from the shoot.

This was in my top 3 favourite photos from my trip to Miami last May, I sent it along with others to all the Canadian magazines I could, thinking that maybe they’d run it.. no such luck. This spot has never been skated, for pretty good reason, it’s a vertical pole, into a wall. How Tomas looked at that and figured he could do it is beyond me.. how he actually did it, I still don’t understand.. and at 4 in the morning to boot.

I actually just went and got some prints made of this photo to hang on my wall because I like it so much. I’m not often happy with a lot of the photos I shoot, but this one I knew while i was shooting it that I’d like it. The skater is none other than Aaron.. of course, and the trick is a front board.

Once again I switched up the “portfolio” part of my website, I felt like the previous version was lacking in oomph or something. So I spent the weekend going over photos and building out this flip book idea, with bigger and badder photos.
Anyways go check it out: http://briangarson.com and let me know what you think.
Thanks!
This shot took me so many tries to get just right, I had my flashes placed in specific spots so that the cross beam of the mirror would hide the reflection and Aaron would hide it from the other direction. I had another flash way up above me on a lightstand, and another one to the front and left behind the pillar. I couldn’t see a damn thing because it was at night, and I was determined to get the rimlight behind him. After about 30 or so odd tries, I finally had the camera in the right place to not get any glare in the mirror, and Aaron blocking it at the same time. It’s nice to have someone with enough talent to do the same trick over and over and not get mad at me for effing it up.
