This would have been one of my favourite photos from the trip if, Manny wasn’t hanging out in the background, and Aaron had landed this. Unfortunately he couldn’t ride away from this one, so that’s too bad. I was pretty stoked to get this somewhat stock yet creative angle at NMB. Most people shoot wide angle fish from the stairs, but the filmer Jack was doing that.. mind you I did shoot another trick that Aaron did land from that angle. Either way here’s Aaron being a bitch and not sticking this front nosegrind on the famous blue hubba’s at NMB in Miami.
Wow. Miami is a whole other world. I was down there for a week, and just got back this past weekend. The trip was really fun, I wish I was there for longer. I have a ton of photos to go through, so I’ll be posting some of those soon. Met some awesome people down there too, Dennis (king of Miami), Jack a filmer for MIA, Manny, Anthony, Johan and Cousin some local skate dudes, who kill it.
The beach was awesome, the weather was ridiculously warm and sunny all the time, and the accommodations were splendid. I definitely can’t wait to go back next year. My wife beater tan is second to none, and I finally started peeling this week.
Some highlights from the trip include: swimming, beering, skateboarding, taking photos, seeing and skating famous spots, calling out every third person on the street as Rick Ross, girls in bikini’s, girls in only bikini bottoms, yoshi, skating the benches on the old highway/pier, bullet ledge, crack head laughing at aaron after he fell, making nick almost cry, eating checkers 24/7, airplane rides with Chris, hanging out with a bunch of cool dudes everyday.
350 days till Miami.
Well I’m off to Miami tomorrow morning at 7am. I’m heading down to meet up with, and shoot the dudes from On Deck, get some sun, and do some swimming. My good friend Chris is coming with me, so I’ve got a travel companion, and apparently the place we’re staying is pimp. Hopefully I’ll destroy the shutters on my cameras from taking so many photos. I’ll see if I can make an update or two while I’m there, so check the RSS Feed. In the meantime, here’s Keith blasting an enormous Pop shuvit down Egg Nine in Ottawa.
Charlie can do magic, like front boards on half a skateboard.. so I pretty much blew it with this photo, terrible angle. There’s a tree literally 1 inch out of the frame, so I was thinking inside there wasn’t going to work. I’m going to have to go back and do some figuring out.
We shot this photo at the beginning of the spring, Aaron never landed it, so close so many times, but not clean, and being the idiot that I am “No problem, throw that Adio sticker on there” it’s unusable anyways. So whatever, basically a photo I was holding onto hoping we’d go back and we’d get it but I don’t think it’s going to happen. We got kicked out by security the first day, the 2nd day, the security guy detained Aaron till the RCMP showed up and were more than likely annoyed at being called for a 20 something year old skating a ledge. Turns out the British aren’t stoked on us skating their consulate.
Aaron step up to overcrooks
Sam’s making another appearance this week with a feeble we shot over at Broadview school last week. This kid has so much style for a little dude, I’m stoked that after he landed this he went back and did it for a photo. Kids got his feebles on lock down that’s for sure.
I wanted to try a different angle from a spot that’s been shot so much its ridiculous, Keith was doing back lips for a while, then started busting out the bs tailslides. I shot this standing on top of a railing at the top of a double 20 or 30 set, I was a little nervous that I’d be looking through the lens, follow it, and fall 30 feet down to the ground.. but that didn’t happen, what with my spidey skills and all.
